What time is it?

covetable watches

I need to get a watch. I’m always checking my phone for the time or asking my husband. When I was little I used to wear a couple of Swatches at a time. Then when I was training for the NY Marathon in a Puma watch.

Now I’m in the market for something more sophisticated. My best friend has a great Michael Kors watch so I decided to check out his selection over at Shopbop. I found the one that’ll be donning my wrist soon enough (the taupe!). My Michael Kors favorites:

  1. Men’s rubber watch (who says I can’t wear it?)
  2. Taupe watch (this is the one for me!)
  3. Tortoise watch (I had a tough time deciding between this and the taupe- pun intended)

Next week will be Valentine week on Maquette so stay tuned for posts on a perfect V-day outfit, a tasty recipe from my friend Kelly of Eat, Make, Read, A fun gift idea and a V-day card round-up + more more more.

Have a fun weekend!

David Palmer’s wallpaper for Rollout

David Palmer Rollover paper

My friend David Palmer who I met a Surtex a few years back is a multi-talented artist easily flitting back and forth between fine and commercial art. His latest project is a unique wallpaper for Rollout. I’m super excited to find out about them from David. What a cool company. Anyway, David’s paper is a not the typical brocade or floral print…but rather a visual interpretation of worth.

I think it would look amazing in a kitchen or a giant wall in a loft. I love the black ground with the white scribblings, numbers and drawings. Looks like it came from the mind of a mad scientist, or mad farmer, or a mad economist….or maybe a tribrid of all of the above.

Leanne Shapton: Book Covers

Leanne Shapton (will be posted on Wed.)

My husband, a book editor, knows I’m sometimes guilty of judging a book by it’s cover. I could just stare at Leanne Shapton‘s work all day. It’s as captivating as any novel.

Dace loves Dallas

Dallas for Dace
Last week I posted about Dace. I absolutely want their bedding and blouses! They just commissioned Dallas Shaw to create 5 different fashion illustrations of models wearing dace pieces from their spring 2010 collection.

They’ll be giving away prints to everyone that purchases something from the new collection online (while supplies last). Plus they’ll give away 3 originals to the first 3 to purchase something after the mailer goes out-Monday (yesterday so hurry).
