Sometimes it feels like there are too few hours in a day. More than once I have remarked that I wish I didn’t need to sleep. However when I think about it I really thrive under pressure of deadline. What if the deadline is my own? What if the deadline is in place simply because it has to be or I would not accomplish what I want in life?
It takes a lot of discipline to work creatively when it’s dark. I’m a real morning person. However I have made the decision to pursue multiple paths in life. I teach art most of the day hours, then I spend beautiful afternoons with my baby, wonderful evenings with my husband and then at night and on the weekend I set aside the time I need to get my creative work done. I do nitty gritty work throughout the day though like checking emails etc. leaving my creative time free for just that. How do you manage if you are juggling multiple jobs and lives? If you want some great tips and anecdotes you should check out Robert Pagliarini’s new book The Other 8 Hours. He interviewed me in it on page 52 if you want more info on how I do it. Pagliarini sets out to teach us how to achieve fulfillment through productive action. I think we all know that structuring our time leads to more productivity.
