Last images of summer

Summer ended hot. I can’t believe Fall is here. I’m not sure whether or not I’m allowed to wear boots or if I do wear them whether I’ll be too warm by the afternoon.

Still, I never officially bid summer farewell here on Maquette so I’m posting these two images that sum it up perfectly.

Here’s a painting I did on drawing paper with kid’s tempera cakes. To me it looks like a planetary system.

As soon as I heard that this famed book was back in print, I snatched up a copy. I had to see what inspired Kate Spade. I love her aesthetic. It’s a fascinating book. I love how it’s written, through the lens of Japanense culture observing American culture. The book contains an amazing collection of photographs taken in 1965 by Teruyoshi Hayashida on Eastern college campuses like Dartmouth.

Autumn inspiration: Wardrobe remix

wardrobe remix favorites

There are some really cute girls with great ideas on Wardrobe Remix, a flickr group where you can post a photo of your outfit and where to got it. I’m loving these creative combos from:

  1. Clothedmuch (Genius idea to tuck a denim shirt into a floral skirt and belt it with a rugged brown belt)
  2. whosjaja (Way to make a vintage 70’s skirt look sleek and sexy with that thick belt at the waist. Plus that canteen bag completes the whole look)
  3. itgirlragdoll (So New York! Love how the light rimmed glasses tie the oversized cream shirt and oversized bag together color wise. The sleek skinny black pants add a graphic element that makes all the baggy stuff look neat and sexy. Oh and the tied shirt is such a good idea. What a great way to look pulled together while wearing a men’s shirt)
  4. zoharavron (So flattering. The black pants with shirt tucked in make this effortless look so pulled together. The vintage glasses are super fun!)

New advertorial illustration in Vogue, Allure and Self magazines!

Advertorial illo in Vogue

detail of my advertorial for Vogue, Allure and Self

I was recently commissioned by Conde Nast and Proctor & Gamble to do this advertorial illustration as a reminder to all women to do breast exams. Glad to illustrate for such an important cause, breast cancer prevention and awareness. Also thrilled to see my work in Vogue. I’m pretty sure it’s in Allure and Self. If you see it will you please let me know?! Thanks! And remember to check yourself or remind your girl to check herself! XO.
