An abstract painter and extraordinary colorist, Sonia Delaunay applied her talents and theories to all areas of visual expression throughout her career. This exhibition celebrates her designs for textiles and fashion in the 1920s through the 1940s.

The exhibit runs March 18–June 5, 2011. I’m definitely going to check it out.

Ready for Spring: Day tripper

Somehow I feel funny posting about other things this week with what’s happening in Japan. My thoughts are with the Japanese people. Please think about donating something to one of these charities. Or pick up a cherry blossom print from Gallery Hanahou.

Here are some items I think would be great for a day trip this spring.

  1. Madewell: Audra striped tee from Bird
  2. Current/ElliotThe army pant
  3. Kate Spade: iphone case
  4. Marc by Marc Jacobs: Pretty nylon backpack
  5. Coclico shoes: Rori flat sandals

Cherry Blossoms for Japan

Cherry blossoms

The cherry blossoms print is available for pre-order through Gallery Hanahou.  Email shop@galleryhanahou.com to reserve yours. 100% of proceeds will go to Doctors Without Borders who are setting up mobile clinics during aftermath of the tragedy in Japan.

Through the generosity of Pro Image owner Manny Parks, the printing of this original watercolor pattern was free. Pro Image has two locations in NYC and you can also order prints online that can be shipped to you.

Here are a list of other resources to help Japan through this time.

Sad flag

blob daily drawing

I did this drawing the other day and for some reason it’s reminding me of a mournful Japanese flag. I was not thinking that while creating it. It’s interesting how your subconscious can creep into your work sometimes.

Cherry blossoms print to benefit Doctors Without Borders in Japan

Cherry blossoms

This cherry blossom watercolor will hopefully help raise money for the Doctors Without Borders relief efforts. They are currently in Japan assessing the post-quake needs, setting up mobile clinics, and focusing on vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, children, and people victims suffering from chronic illnesses.

This 8X10 print will be sold in limited edition with 100% of proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders.

**Contact Gallery Hanahou: shop@galleryhanahou.com to pre-order (who will be generously shipping for free)**

(note: Shipping internationally will incur the flat cost of $20 as prints must be sent as Registered post, with tracking number. All domestic orders ship for FREE!)

I should have the prints by Wednesday. I’ll let you know when they’re available at Gallery Hanahou.
