Intrepid traveller

intrepid

Despite the chaos that is balancing teaching with illustration jobs with motherhood with plotting our move etc….I’m working on new pieces for a solo show at Gallery Hanahou in the fall. I won’t post many pieces here as I think it will be more fun to share them on the walls of the gallery. Still, from time to time I’d love to give you a sneak peek. Here’s a new piece of a girl with binoculars and an ambiguous subway map loosely based on the London Underground system.

In other news, are you looking to move? Here are snap shots/info about our apartment if you want it when we go.

Farewell Brooklyn

Henry and mama9
coming up to a stand

Ok, so I’ve hinted at some big changes and here’s the news:
We’re moving to Manhattan. Spending the next few years in an apartment owned by my husband’s family. Working on illustration full time, still teaching but only for one day a week. More time with baby Henry.

So sad to leave Brooklyn. Love it here so much. Love our little apartment, Henry’s first home. Still, change is good and we felt we really needed to push forward so off we go….

Staying here for the spring and summer though so there will be more time to say good-bye to the cherry blossom trees, Franny’s and all of our neighborhood friends.

Bitter sweet.

Bill Cunningham portrait

Bill Cunningham_NYX

Last night I finally saw the Bill Cunningham documentary. I’ve been dying to see it. I was in great company with Leigh and Abbey at one of my favorite theaters in NYC, The IFC. It was a moving portrait of an amazing man with so many layers. I left feeling such a range of emotions for this incredible human and staple of New York culture. Today I thought I’d share this portrait I did of Bill about a month ago.
