Warby Parker Glasses: Violet Gaynor & Fashionologie

Warby Parker Glasses_via Fashionologie
Fashion week is about to kick off in New York. One of my oldest and best friends/ the most stylish person (Violet Gaynor) I know will be in the center of it all under the big tents. I’ll rely on her to give me some insider tips on what’s what in the fashion world.

Fashionologie just asked Violet to share a fashion week survivial secret. Her latest obsession are Warby Parker glasses which is super coincidental because we just ordered my ever bespectacled husband Dave two pairs (shipping is free and they encourage you to order extra pairs to try on).

Secretly I’ve always wanted glasses. I’m lucky not to need them but I kind of just want to wear them. Would you wear glasses just for fun or do you think it would be silly without a prescription? I love these two styles: Thatcher & Finn.

I didn’t need glasses until about 7th grade, but up until then, I would secretly try my mom’s on and wish I had some of my own. I think I look better with them, so if I didn’t have to get them (as I did), I definitely would have gotten some fake ones by now. And since you’re lucky not to need them, you’ll be able to pick and choose the times you feel like putting them on (like any other accessory)!

If I were to get any—it would definitely be these. They’re so perfect. They’ll look so great on my husband too. I can’t wait till he can try them on.

[NB: avid reader for a large number of months now, secretly, till this moment that is… :P]

Over here in brightly sunny Adelaide, South Australia, it is quite common to know a handful of people who wear cool glasses for the very fact that they simply look cool.

I, however, began my debut at avid spectacle wearing very young, was blessed with the ugliest pairs imaginable, took little care of them causing them to often be broken and need replacing – which could’ve all been saved had I had the chance to wear a better pair of glasses. Scarred for a long time, I now don some very funky spectaculars I got in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia within 45 minutes of the consultation for AU$120 [consultation, frames, lens protector film, the works].

I got them there because my previous awesome pair were knocked off my face and fell overboard [from the ship I was working on] in the middle of the China Sea.

Concluding this wonderful mini-novel, I’m saying it’s okay to wear glasses without prescription with me. And with you being so arty-fabulous, it would very much suit you.

    Have a rock-star Wednesday!
