By now, you have probably heard the buzz about Aidan Donnelly Rowley‘s new novel, The Ramblers. Set in my (and Aidan’s) hometown, NYC (the most beautiful sparkling parts of the city)—The Ramblers explores the lives of three lost souls, bound together by friendship and family. During the course of one fateful Thanksgiving week, a time when emotions run high and being with family can be a mixed blessing, Rowley’s sharply defined characters explore the moments when decisions are deliberately made, choices accepted, and pasts reconciled.

Rambling through the emotional chaos of their lives, this trio learns to let go of the past, to make room for the future and the uncertainty and promise that it holds. The Ramblers is a love letter to New York City—an accomplished, sumptuous novel about fate, loss, hope, birds, friendship, love, the wonders of the natural world and the mysteries of the human spirit.

I was of course thrilled to work with Aidan and her publicist, on something special for those receiving the advances. It’s no coincidence that the book title references the Ramble in Central Park (personally my favorite spot). One of the characters in the book is a bird watcher so what perfect give-away than an illustrative guide to the birds of the Ramble. I’d love to spot an owl in there.

I’m beyond excited to share one of my dear and oldest friends, Erin Gleeson‘s latest book. I cannot wait to get my hands on it and cook with my son:

The Forest Feast for Kids, is a vegetarian cookbook filled with 40 fun recipes for kids of all ages to make. Recipes are presented in a visual and approachable way to make kids want to try new fruits and vegetables. Using colorful produce makes cooking and eating more fun!

Erin Gleeson is an artist, photographer, home cook and New York Times bestselling author of The Forest Feast, a vegetarian cookbook based on her blog of the same name.

Erin lives in a cabin in the woods in Northern California with her husband and toddler son. We met in NYC, living in the same building. We spent the best part of our 20’s hanging with each other at Erin’s apartment (where, even then on a shoe-string budget she threw elaborate parties with delectable and creative treats). My oldest childhood friend Jonathan moved to the neighborhood and naturally they fell in love. I was sad when they shipped off to live in the woods but I knew Erin would do amazing photography there. Her son and my daughter are a month apart. I can’t wait to spend time with them when they come for Erin’s NYC book launch events to celebrate!

I love having a monthly spread in Vital Magazine (Germany). It’s about health, fitness and well-being. This issue the topic was what you can do in your everyday life to make exercise more fun. So the large illo depicts a woman dancing and the smaller one features two friends doing stretching and yoga together.

Illustrated View of NYFW for The CFDA: Paul Andrew

Paul Andrew

How gorgeous is this Paul Andrew shoe? The details took a while to paint and I was wearing duck boots while painting it…but I’m still swooning.

Here’s everything I’ve done so far. I have a show to paint tonight and one tomorrow. I may squeeze in some I missed as well…stay tuned.
