we had a lovely day yesterday with our families. first my parents and brother came to our apt. for a little brunch and stroll. then we went to dinner with dave’s parents and sister. it was a perfect day. i just wish it could have been longer. above are some pics of me and my dad that i took from dave and my wedding slide-show, so they’re all from around the same period. i was in a backpack a lot. i think it’s cool that my dad’s moustache is reverse avante-garde. happy father’s day dad, you have always been ahead of your time.

Well, I failed threadless again. Next time I am going to just design a shirt and not try to insert a design I already made into the shirt template. I think that’s not working for the threadless audience. you live and learn.

i have so much i want to do. i’m going to do some art submissions this week to companies i’d love to work with, so i spent part of the weekend making more patterns. the ones above are just a sample.

i also went to renegade craft fair. it was scorching hot outside so i had to just run through and then get ice cream and leave. i was happy that i got to meet sian keegan and tara hogan finally. i’ll post some of my renegade favorites later this week.

hope you all had a marvelous weekend. xo.

threadless: my designs + banjo mom serenades bouncing baby

Geometric Cluster Tee - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

Falling Geos - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

Vintage Typewriter - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

Yoyo Girl - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

I tried threadless once before and failed miserably. I am terrible about reading directions. I just do things helter skeltor. So I submitted designs on a white ground and got some mean comments (and some nice) and low scores. sad but kind of funny. here’s one comment that made me chuckle in reference to this design “um gay pride library?”. anyway, i’m determined to try again until i get a shirt made! so maybe it won’t be this time but if you like my submissions please do vote for them over the weekend!!! thanks in advance. i’m not going to send out a letter asking for votes or anything so if you want to vote, that would just be sweet. ok love to all of you. have a beautiful weekend! xo.

p.s if you have a chance, watch this adorable banjo playing mom serenade her bouncing baby. Via Boing Boing.

dinner with erin + creature comforts give-away + week roundup

dinner1
my friend erin is a photographer. i love her aesthetic. we had dinner in her sunny room the other night. she’s a great cook, and prepares everything beautifully. she takes lots of food photos too and blogs on her blog culinography. i could not resist taking some photos of her room and the peacock mural she has in progress. i also thought it clever that she bought squares of decorative copper (the kind you’ll see in old fashioned restaurants) and hammered them into her wall as a headboard. she also hung a little painting i did of her about 5 years ago for my masters thesis project at columbia.
