mirror mirror on the wall…

mirrors

bedding

Hello Readers, today I seek your advice. I am looking for two home items. I still have not finished the mantle in our livingroom. I got this laser cut mirror from Domestic that took ages to come but it was sort of scuffed up when it arrived.
It was supposed to self adhere to the wall but it just fell off one day. It’s a sore spot with my husband, he thought it was totally ridiculous to begin with!! So now I want to get something nice that won’t fall off the wall. I don’t want to spend a fortune. However, the mantle is the first thing you see when you come in the apt. and it’s the centerpiece of the livingroom so the mirror is a real focal point. I want to get something modern and clean, yet unique. I like the ones above. What do you think? Do you have any suggestions of other places I should look?

I also really need a summer blanket. I love being cold and my husband loves being warm. So we go to bed with the a/c on and then I wake up in the jungle cause he shut it off at night. So if we got a nice light weight summer blanket we could sleep with the fan on and both be happy. I seem to only be able to find quilts and duvets, or blankets and throws that won’t fit a full bed. I love the look of these, but can you tell me where I can get something like them that will fit the bed?

I know it’s a tall order but I’d like to keep costs down too! Email me or comment with any ideas. Thanks dear readers!

Lilly McElroy: “I throw myself at men” and way more.

Lilly McElroy

You’ve probably seen Lilly McElroy around the web for her photo series featuring her throwing herself at men (literally). I think that series is too much fun. I love artists that know how to have a laugh. Sometimes fine art can be so sullen. Dana Schutz is funny too.

Anyway, I loved Art Moco’s recent post about her.

I explored her site and found that she has a fantastic body of work other than the aforementioned series. I love the photos of her sleeping in odd places like libraries, train platforms, laundromats, and simply throwing herself in the air. Her work is a must see.

here’s some new artwork i did since surtex

It’s like Butter: Butter by Nadia SAMPLE SALE. + other red hook goodness.

butter

Nadia, the creator of Butter is pretty amazing in person, beautiful and colorful. She was a modern dancer who started out in the fashion world by creating dance clothing that moved well and looked good.

Now Nadia’s own company Butter features gorgeous wrap dresses of various lengths with a million possibilities built-in to fabulous dance fabrics that move like nothing else. My only problem is, I can never remember how to wrap all of them. Conveniently she has a how-to section on her site. She sells to boutiques and big stores like Calypso + Bigdrop. But if you are in the metro area this sale is not to be missed. You are guaranteed compliments if you wear a Butter dress around.

Info on the Butter sample sale in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

Here’s a post I did a while ago featuring Butter. I actually have that dress in cream and those shoes so I can really go Antigone this summer.

Check out the D*S Red Hook guide for other things to do in the hard to get to but cool neighborhood to visit, Red Hook. I have to be careful about going to Erie Basin, I’ll probably buy that Philip Crangi ring I’ve posted about too.
