Halloween how-to round-up! Plus dogs in costumes!

Halloween how-to round-up!
I’m all talk with all of this Halloween exuberance, I have nothing prepared myself. I have elaborate ideas and schemes but the last few weeks have left no time to get a costume cooked up. Time to get on it right?! Regardless of my Halloween neglect, here are some great links for your Halloween edification, inspiration, or just plain enjoyment. Have a splendid weekend everyone and thanks for reading Maquette. I’m going to offer a free downloadable Halloween card for you next week!:

  1. Just in time for the election….political jack-o-lanterns! (More on politics, here’s something for an invitation that you might want to include. The U.S. election campaign is giving hallowe’en-ers a lazy costume option; use this notice to head them off at the pass.)
  2. Spooky Halloween Garland how-to via Paper Crave (with free silhouettes to cut out if you don’t want to design and make your own)
  3. Halloween Cocktails via Dabbled (your escape from politics for one night!)
  4. Martha Stewart Creepy cookie gallery (if your vice is sugar…mine is)
  5. MAKE Special Edition: HALLOWEEN, from the editors of MAKE and CRAFT, brings you 40-plus DIY projects for the holiday that’s made for makers. From the craftiest costumes to amazing animated props and the latest in computer-controlled haunted house effects (links references in the issue)
  6. Halloween fantasy mask tutorial via Craft blog

Best for last….dogs in Halloween costumes…best video music ever!:

Starlet harlot pattern for my new vintage chair

Pinup pattern

I just made this pattern of starlet harlots based on Ava Gardner, Claudette Colbert and some others. It’s reminiscent of these other patterns I made last April:

knockouts

I got a Danish modern vintage chair at a Brooklyn Flea market a couple weekends back. I want to re-upholster it with my own design. Gonna use Spoonflower.com of course. I’ll show you before and after pictures but I have not even ordered the fabric so it may take a few weeks.

I suppose when it’s reupholstered you could say you are sitting on a “dirty” chair. Get it?

Glass blown fruit by Revo via Elle Decor SA blog

glass blown fruit
revo purchase

These blown glass fruits are just stunning. Check them out at Revo Studio on etsy. I got one for my for my mantle (the red plum above). They’re so stunning I can’t take my eyes off them.

I found them on the Elle Decor South Africa blog posted by the multi talented Heather Moore of Skinny LaMinx. Check out her latest work on etsy while you’re at it.

For the rest of the week I’m going to try to stay on a Halloween theme. So tune back in for that. Have a lovely Monday. XO.

Typewriters in fashion photography via Uppercase Gallery blog + Pony Attack and Shiny Squirrel discounts for Maquette readers!

Typewriters in Fashion Photography

Ok, so remember the poster I made for the Shiny Squirrel anniversary party? Well it’s this Sat! If you are in Brooklyn or metro area, you should come. I also made something for the goody bag. Here’s the link to Uppercase‘s blog. I love Uppercase. They posted a sketch of mine once. Here’s where I posted about them before.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Love love love,
Sam
