It’s a classic. Everyone grew up with Maurice Sendak’s “Where the Wild Things Are“. I love the story and illustrations so much it hurts. I read it every year to my second grade art students. Then they each design their own wildthing and we make life-size paper sculptures. If there’s time they draw a comic about a day in the life of their wildthing.
By now, I know the story by heart. It’s one of my favorites to read aloud, or at this point recite.
When I got a glimpse of this Spike Jonze movie trailer I lost my breath. I actually cried a little. I got really nostalgic I suppose. It could be how connected with childhood this story makes me feel. I can’t wait to see this. I just can’t wait.
Directed by Spike Jonze. Starring Catherine Keener (favorite actress), Max Records, Mark Ruffalo, Lauren Ambrose, and James Gandolfini. Where the Wild Things Are opens October 16th.
p.s I love that Arcade Fire song so much. It’s perfect with the trailer.
I love this trailer also! I posted it over on my blog and now I am seeing it every where, did you know that the screenplay is written by Dave Eggers? Oh, and the Arcade Fire song is brilliant.
Yea I read that…Dave Eggers is pretty amazing. I love Arcade Fire and that song is so fitting. I just can’t wait to see the film. I really hope it’s great. I saw in the credits that Maurice Sendak is one of the producers so that’s promising. I mean imagine how many people over the years have approached him about making a film?! This screenplay must be good. The cast is so fantastic. I looove Catherine Keener.
Samantha-
This is great info. Could they have combined any more of my favorite people, stories and songs in to one work? Glad I visited today.
Got my print today, couldn’t be more excited, I will have to wait until we move to hang it but that’s soon!
Sarah
The Estate of Things
Oh yay Sarah! So glad the print arrived. Hope you find a great place for it when you move. Moving is such a pain but then you get to start fresh with decorating so that’s fun!
I feel the same way about the movie, it looks too good to be true. I can’t wait till October!
