Dwell Flagship Store opening

Dwell Studio

Before heading to the theater to see see Moonrise Kingdom with Joanna last night, I joined her at the Dwell flagship store opening on Wooster Street.

I’ve been a big fan of Dwell forever. Their prints, colors and overall style are just the best around, hands down. My jaw dropped upon entering the store. Joanna and I actually joked that we’d like to move in! There were so many beautiful pieces that straddled the perfect balance between vintage and modern. It’s so refreshing how consistent the aesthetic is. So frequently stores/brands are overwhelming, pulling your eye every which way. I love Dwell because every piece/ pattern can work together and you know that if you purchase something there, you’ll have it forever and not just one season.

If you are in NYC you have to check out the shop/all of the amazing attention to detail.

Here are a few Dwell items I’m seriously coveting:

  1. Franklin media cabinet (it was my absolute favorite piece in the shop, a show stopper, a piece I’d treasure)
  2. Axel round dining table (I’m loving the pops of gold with warm wood tones throughout the collection)
  3. Polka Dot print (this piece caught my eye hung salon style amongst other minimal black and white prints)
  4. Arion lamp (I was certain this was a vintage piece that they threw into the mix for the store opening. It’s not vintage but certainly vintage inspired. What a rad piece for an end table. I’d go so far as to say it’s the best reading light I’ve ever seen)
  5. Dwell/Pendleton Chelsea striped throw (my bed is begging for this….literally begging)

p.s have you seen the beautiful feature on Christiane Lemieux on my friend Violet’s site, the Glow?

Vacation daydreaming

Big one

It’s a rainy day here in New York and I just took a peek at my schedule for the rest of the week and it’s full to the max which means I’ll be working a ton on finishing projects late at night. I whole heartedly love this fast paced lifestyle but I keep harkening back to a couple of weeks ago when we went to the beach one day and had the best time frolicking in the sand and surf. Do you have any vacation fantasies?

Wham pow flouro!

here we go flouro
My best and oldest friends came over last night. We ate snacks and caught up and before we knew it midnight was approaching. That’s how it goes right?

Today I’m in deep work mode but I’m happily wearing some polish my friend brought me. It’s totally retina searing….in a good way if that’s possible!

I’m on board the neon trend, how about you?

  1. Wham Pow nail laquer (yup, that’s my hand)
  2. Set of wooden salad bowls dipped in neon (green apples would look rad in these too)
  3. Neon orange leather satchel (I die)

This jumbo neon hair pin is kind of rad too. I think I might try it.

Wish List: Yellow, blue and gray

Sometimes it’s just fun to put a dream outfit together…no? As much as I love to admire fancy looks, I’m really a tomboy at heart so I’ll always go for something functional and totally wearable. I love these items together and frankly I can imagine wearing that top with jeans and those trousers with a t-shirt too. Are you coveting anything these days?:

  1. Tibi, printed eyelet tye back top
  2. Viktor & Rolf, wide leg trousers
  3. Brvtvs victory necklace
  4. See by Chloe, joyrider clutch in yellow
  5. Ancient Greek, clio flat slide sandals

Wish you were here

Hello lovely readers. We just returned from a few days in Florida. We visited my grandma/Henry’s great grandma and other family. It was a great time. Henry had a blast. We swam in the pool went to the beach. Henry’s a total water baby…like me!

New york is overcast and rainy and a bit chilly which actually seems kind of refreshing after hot hot Florida. I have a ton of work to catch up on so it’s good that the weather is not luring me outdoors! I hope you had a great weekend too.

XO-Sam
