Last minute holiday cards

last minute holiday cards

These lovely cards are perfect for the holidays without screaming “HOLIDAY” too overtly. You can use them as thank you cards, for other occasions, or send them to someone just to brighten their day as well. Hope you like them! I know I’d love to get one in the mail. It’s so fun to get real mail.

Staci Woo: Delicacy, beauty, comfort.

Staci Woo fashions

Perusing Cloths-Pin I came across Staci Woo (I’m a little bit in love with her clothing. That may be an understatement). My initial response was to say something like “I wuv woo” or “woo-wee!” but I thought better of it. I think Staci has accomplished a great feat. She rolls comfort, beautiful silhouettes and delicacy all into one with her collection. It’s a rarity. This says it all: “whisper soft supima cottons and rich tencels knits mixed with lace trim and inspiring prints”. Just lovely Staci.

Cozy Button Scarves. Stay warm, stay cool.

button scarves

Can you feel that chill in the air? It’s time for scarves. I’m partial to these button scarves. They’re chic and stylish while totally functional!!! It’s a miracle to find form and function all in one. I own this Mike & Chris one from a few years ago. I feel like I discovered them. I know that’s not true but let me feel clever for a nano second. Now they’re all over. I saw them in Vogue and Shopbop (here’s what their own site says about them). They’re a couple you know. Cute. Anyway the other two brands featured are made by hand. So if you took the handmade pledge this year you’re in luck! Stay warm.

Check out these awesome Wild Thing dolls. That story is still one of my favorite’s of all time. AdamX Maquette’s trusty advisor suggested the link.

Mike another frequent Maquette advisor pointed out this great article about the Etsy phenomena/ craft 2.0 movement here and here.

Also, I hope you noticed Maquette’s little face lift? New banner, new colors. I threw the original one together and never liked it too much. So now it’s revamped. I hope you like the new look! There’s also the new category “portfolio”. It’s a link to the temporary home of my illustrations till the site is done.

Obsessive Consumption: Where Kate Bingaman showcases her love/hate relationship with money, shopping, branding, credit cards, celebrity etc…

obsessive consumption

Obsessive consumption is a brilliantly clever concept by graphic designer Kate Bingaman to document all of her purchases. Read her blog to get the daily update of what she bought in drawn form. I wonder if I were to document all of my purchases if I would become more aware of how wasteful I am, how much more I could conserve, or if I would try to buy pretty things to draw. Probably something in between. It’s a wonderful idea and I love her drawings. They’re for sale here.

Btw I was a guest again on Moldawer in the Morning podcast, episode 64. It’s a little racy. But it’s tongue and cheek.
