Christopher David Ryan’s paintings

Christopher David Ryan's original paintings are for sale!

Remember a little while back I posted a preview to Christopher David Ryan’s show at Rare Device? Well it was a great success and I’m still sad that I didn’t get to jet off to San Francisco to attend the opening. However, now we can all virtually attend by visiting the show/Rare Device online and checking out Christopher’s paintings and book. I’m definitely going to pick up a copy of the book.

I think Chronicle should publish it!

Here’s an interview I did with Christopher a few months ago for you to read since I know that you are now a CDR fan too.

We were all thrilled with the group show opening last Sat. It’s up till the end of the week btw. Loads of friends and clients showed up and all of us sold pieces! The space was really colorful and our art fit in perfectly. The opening was lively and fun. The pictures above show a cute window decal featuring our show title and names, the store front, some snaps of my work in situ plus people schmoozing/drinking their wine and eating their delectable cupcakes from Whimsy & Spice. I’ll post photos of their amazing sweets later. Thank you again to my fellow artists and to all of our supportive friends who came out in the rain to make us feel loved! Love you all, thank you for supporting our work. Also thank you to all of the bloggers who posted about the show. We’ve got to compile a list and do a big thank you post…

Here’s one last snap of me wearing heels at the show. I might not do that again for a while. I’m 5 months pregnant and my feet were tired at the end of the night. I do love those shoes though.

I can’t wait to tell you about the Lady show and show you pictures. It was a fabulous opening and the work will be up all week if you are in Manhattan. I’m waiting to receive good photos from the girls who had fab cameras. Thank you so very much to the friends and clients who graced us with your presence and to Whimsy and Spice for providing incredible sweet treats.

For today, take a peek at some fantastic postcard backs I found on flickr from these users:

I may bring this piece to the show as a print. I was recently commissioned to do it for bloggie a friend in SF. Today we’re setting up the Lady show and I’ll have to decide which pieces to bring. There’s a limited amount of space so we’re all going to have to chose our display pieces carefully rather than just blasting everything up there. I am making prints to show if there’s enough room and this one may be tagging along. Either way I plan to have a big etsy sale after the show with lots of prints and even originals.

I’ll post about the show on Monday and then I’ll go back to regular posting, you know with stuff about: geek chic, old timey moustaches, eadweard muybridge, and yellow polaroids.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend dearest readers. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO.

p.s Thanks to Scoutie Girl for the extremely nice posts on the show and my Hooray for Summer piece.

Hooray for Summer

Hooray-for-Summer

I know it’s not officially summer right now. However, for me as an art teacher and freelance illustrator summer means I get to just be an illustrator and have quiet days at home working on art projects and jobs. I can’t wait!!! Tomorrow is my last day of school! So I’ll say it….Hooray for summer!

I’ll probably display this hand lettering piece at the Lady show this coming weekend.
