Hermès of Paris

I love doing live painting for a variety of clients. I mainly create loose painterly portraits at fashion events and brand activations.

I was thrilled when Hermes asked me to paint at their flagship store to celebrate their Jardin fragrances. I asked guests to describe their dream garden or favorite florals and painted them on the spot on the finest French watercolor paper. I culled reference images from the south of France, the Hamptons and England to inspire.

I set up residency for 3 days and met lovely people from all over the world.

Vogue X Moda Operandi Event Illustration

Happy to share a recent illustrated invitation for Condé Nast’s first global membership community. Vogue100 and Moda Operandi are hosting a New York Fashion Week event.

Lauren Santo Domingo and Vogue’s Chioma Nnadi will be in conversation about fall 2022 trends, their highlights from NYFW + models debuting looks from the runways.

More about Vogue100, “Spearheaded by Anna Wintour, Edward Enniful, and the Editors of American Vogue, an exclusive collective of impressive and inspiring people around the world.”

I loved culling through Lauren and Chioma’s street style photos and pulling style vibes to illustrate their portraits in their most iconic styles.

They went with the full figure portraits but I tried some close up illustrations too.

Salon Du Vintage posters

The Salon du Vintage will be held in March throughout France. I illustrated/designed the poster for each city. The Salon pays tribute to the art, film and nostalgia of the 70’s and 80’s presenting iconic pieces of fashion and furniture seen in classic films.

Select items on display include: Pascal Mourgue’s seats for the film “2001 Space Odyssey” by Stanley Kubrick, Azedine Alaia’s dresses that dressed the 80’s icon Grace Jones in the James Bond movie “Dangereusement Vôtre” with Roger Moore. Also, the costumes and furniture of “The Devil Wears Prada” and “A Clockwork Orange” etc.

Brother Vellies Met Gala X NY Times Style Section feature

I love looking at pretty clothing, conceptually interesting designs and controversial fashion. I don’t believe in a lot of parameters when it comes to art and find it scintillating when art creates a conversation. I was happy to illustrate for Brother Vellies during the Met Gala and then to lend the illustrations to this NY Times Style piece on AOC’s controversial statement dress.

@aoc’s @themetgalaofficial look by @aurorajames @brothervellies.

From Aurora, Brother Vellies founder/designer in the article:

“Listen, it would be a lot easier to go to the Met Gala and just wear a really beautiful dress and look really beautiful and have a good time. But that was not her intention, right? Her intention was to take a conversation that’s largely existing in working-class communities and bring it into rooms where that conversation might be a little bit more uncomfortable. It’s not easy to show up in a room like that, with a statement like that.

There’s a lot of people who gain access to rooms like that and are too afraid to rock the boat.”
