Mac Attack: Stunning and delectable macarons

Macaronage

I’m obsessed with macarons. They’re my favorite, absolutely favorite dessert. I first tasted them at Payard. It was love at first taste. My best memories of them were during my honeymoon in Paris. I swear we had them for lunch-dessert and then again for dinner-dessert. Everyone touts Laduree but you can get them anywhere in Paris and they’re swoon worthy. It’s not just the taste though. I think as a visual person I take macarons as a visual feast as well as a literal one.

Check out Macaronage ( the source of the images above) for some enticing photos of dreamy, colorful, delicious macarons.

Here are some of my other swoons on macarons:

  1. Candied chestnut macarons by Mad Baker
  2. Dusty purple macarons and apparel to match
  3. Chocolate macarons
  4. Macaron dishware
  5. Stunning color palette of macarons
  6. My macaron snap shot in Paris
  7. Macarons in the box in Paris

I just feel like painting a lot this week. I’m so much happier and more productive in the spring.

I hope your Wednesday is happy and productive!! (Or at the very least fun).

The Other 8 Hours: Maximize Your Free Time to Create New Wealth & Purpose

horse sitter Sometimes it feels like there are too few hours in a day. More than once I have remarked that I wish I didn’t need to sleep. However when I think about it I really thrive under pressure of deadline. What if the deadline is my own? What if the deadline is in place simply because it has to be or I would not accomplish what I want in life?

It takes a lot of discipline to work creatively when it’s dark. I’m a real morning person. However I have made the decision to pursue multiple paths in life. I teach art most of the day hours, then I spend beautiful afternoons with my baby, wonderful evenings with my husband and then at night and on the weekend I set aside the time I need to get my creative work done. I do nitty gritty work throughout the day though like checking emails etc. leaving my creative time free for just that. How do you manage if you are juggling multiple jobs and lives? The Other 8 Hours: Maximize Your Free Time to Create New Wealth & Purpose If you want some great tips and anecdotes you should check out Robert Pagliarini’s new book The Other 8 Hours. He interviewed me in it on page 52 if you want more info on how I do it. Pagliarini sets out to teach us how to achieve fulfillment through productive action. I think we all know that structuring our time leads to more productivity.

Well Suited: Sexy full piece swimsuits

Last summer I was very pregnant. I only went swimming once and it was so wonderful I regretted not going more but the end of the summer was nigh! I love nothing more than splashing about in a pool or better yet the ocean. This summer I want to swim a lot and bring Henry. Poor us, we’re so pale. We’ll have to lotion up and cover up as much as possible. He’ll wear something like this and I was thinking of trying to find a nice maillot. I love that these are wine colored. I think that might look nice with my fair freckled skin. I better start getting swim suit ready. Henry, get ready to go for a ride in your jogging stroller!

  1. Little Blaze Maillot, Marc Jacobs
  2. Kia once piece, Diane Von Furstenberg
  3. Bisque, Marc Jacobs

How about these old timey swim suits? Or this fun weekend get-a-way wear?

My folks

my folks
Thought I’d end the week with a photo of my parents. They’re on the beach in the winter in Montauk, New York. My dad set the auto timer and put his camera on a tripod. They look cute and that mustache is not ironic.

Don’t forget to leave a comment if you want that signed Milton Glaser documentary poster. I’ll randomly pick a winner this weekend and then you’ll own the poster! YAY!

Here in Brooklyn the cherry blossoms are truly swoon worthy. Baby Henry and I have been laying in their shade each afternoon practicing sitting up and also pulling on blades of grass. His nanny share is right across the street from the Brooklyn Museum and the Botanical Gardens. How ideal is that?!! The Cherry blossoms, Chinese Wisteria and Lilac trees make the place smell like paradise.

Hope you find a fragrant shady tree to relax under and think this weekend. XO.
